Thanks everybody for the enormous volume of contributions. We're up to over 1,000 individual users suggesting their favourite, must-have apps and utilities. This discussion has been picked up by Slashdot, LifeHacker, del.icio.us, digg, laweba, macsurfer.com and more. I'll keep updating the sidebar as your suggestions come in, but it's already starting to look like a great toolkit for a new Windows user. Keep the suggestions rolling in! P.S. if you don't see your suggestion listed yet - check back soon, I'm updating as fast as possible!

Well, I see that the fix is in and you are not really serious about this.
After sending you the same short list 3 times by e-mail (the last time with links to the vendor's sites) over the last 48 hours, I can tell that you are not really paying attention to any software that you don't understand.
And the 5 packages I sent are not just "best in class" on Windows, but represent 3 classes of code that are not even available in the MAC environment. The remaining package is just the industry leader in it's class.
Yet, you post many crappy products on your lists where there are obvious equivalents on the MAC.
So much for your objective experiment. Another MAC user with their head int he sand.
